One of Liverpool’s busiest test centres, Norris Green routes take you through residential areas, dual carriageways, and some challenging roundabouts. Common routes include Muirhead Avenue, Queens Drive, and the East Prescot Road corridor. Our instructors practice these exact routes with you until they become second nature.

The Garston centre covers routes through South Liverpool including Aigburth, Allerton, Woolton, and Speke. You’ll encounter a mix of residential streets, busy junctions around Allerton Road, and the faster roads heading toward the airport. Our instructors know every turn and will prepare you thoroughly.

Test Route Training: Every lesson includes targeted practice on real DVSA test routes from your nearest centre. We don’t just teach you to drive — we teach you to pass at your specific test centre.

Liverpool Driving Lessons FAQ

Liverpool has two DVSA practical test centres: Norris Green (Larkhill Lane, L13) and Garston (Long Lane, L19). Your instructor will train you on the routes from the centre closest to you. Both centres have their own specific routes and challenges, and we cover them all thoroughly during your lessons.

It depends on your experience level. A complete beginner typically needs 30 to 40 hours of professional instruction. If you’ve had some lessons before or have private practice, you may need fewer. Our intensive courses are designed around 15 hours (for experienced learners) and 30 hours (for beginners) to get you test-ready efficiently.

Absolutely. Our “Zero to Hero” intensive course is specifically designed for complete beginners. It’s a 30-hour programme spread over two weeks (three hours a day, Monday to Friday). By the end, you’ll have covered everything from moving off for the first time to confidently navigating Liverpool’s busiest roads.

You don’t need a theory pass to start lessons, but you will need it before you can book your practical test. We recommend booking your theory test early and studying alongside your practical lessons. We’re happy to advise on theory resources and timing.

We cover all Liverpool postcodes including the city centre, North Liverpool (Norris Green, Anfield, Everton, West Derby, Kirkdale), South Liverpool (Garston, Aigburth, Allerton, Woolton, Speke, Mossley Hill), and East Liverpool (Wavertree, Childwall, Kensington, Toxteth). We’ll pick you up from home, work, or college.

You can book your practical driving test through the GOV.UK website. It costs £62 for weekday tests and £75 for evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Your instructor will advise you on when you’re ready and help you choose the best test centre and date. We can also assist with finding cancellation test dates if you need a quicker slot.
